Visiting

We welcome parents to the unit at any time, day or night. Friends and family are also welcome between 9:00 and 5:00. Brothers and sisters are able to visit but usually only tolerate a short time! They need to be supervised even in the NICU playroom. Other children are not allowed in to the Unit.

When you arrive at the Unit, you will see a security system on the wall to the side

of the door. This is designed for your baby’s safety, not as a barrier to parents visiting the Unit whenever they wish. Press the bell and you will be asked to identify yourselves. Every effort is made to answer the bell promptly although you may have to wait a short time if staff are busy. We know you are waiting and will answer the bell as soon as possible.

Due to limited space, we can only allow two visitors per baby at the cotside at any one time.

Parents will be asked to leave the nurseries during formal ward rounds but invited in when their own baby is discussed. Ward rounds are planned to occur daily at 8.30am and 12.00am but these times can vary.

If you have any questions or concerns about visiting your baby, please speak to a member of staff.
